Bio
Cecil Brathwaite knew from the first time he was introduced to photography in a photojournalism course at American University that he wanted to be on the creative side of the camera. After years of looking for the right fit and honing his photography skills, he became a member of the PPA (Professional Photographers of America), which made it possible for him to study at the organizations renowned Winona School of International Photography. There, he learned the most advanced techniques of his trade under some of the most skillful master photographers in the U.S.
Before starting his own photography business, Brathwaite worked as a photographer for a prominent photographic studio in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This provided him with invaluable experience working directly with customers and on high-profile projects. Brathwaites early career hit a peak in D.C. when he was selected to photograph one of the most prestigious events of his career the United States Presidential Inauguration.
With 15 years of professional photography under his belt, it has been his pleasure documenting events not only in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, but in numerous cities throughout the United States. Brathwaite continues to serve as an active member of the PPA, and he is known in particular for his group photography portfolio. His expertise ranges from elegant portraiture to sophisticated social and corporate events.
